School Board Recognition Week: January 22-28
During the week of January 22-28, communities across the state of Missouri will honor the dedicated service of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Week, as proclaimed by Governor Jay Nixon.
The goal is to build awareness and understanding of the important function an elected board of education plays in communities and schools.
“Our community and our students benefit every day from the countless volunteer hours devoted by our Board of Education members,” stated Dr. Richard Asbill, Cassville R-IV School District Superintendent. “They tackle the difficult challenges that come with operating a school district. Their decisions not only affect our students and community today, but create a lasting impact on the future of Cassville Schools. For that, we appreciate them immensely.”
The Cassville School District is governed by a seven member board that meets monthly. Board of Education members serve a three-year term. Cassville R-IV School District current board members are: David Haddock, Jon Horner, Becky Henningson, Carolyn Bowen, Chad Yarnall, Jeremy Marple and John Sullivan.
When asked about board member service, Becky Henningson explained, “The communities that make up our school district hold a special place in my heart and that is why I do my best to serve our neighbors, friends, parents and grandparents. I know that our school board members have the best interest of our students and teachers at heart and understand that we have been given a responsibility to represent them and our taxpayers and ensure we have the best school district possible.”
School Board Recognition Week is sponsored by the Missouri School Boards’ Association. MSBA is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.
